Dining Hall (Trowbridge Hall)
Above is the Dining Hall (Trowbridge Hall) as seen from the front on July 4th, 2007.
Above is the Dining Hall interior. The doorway at the right enters the kitchen (and the two adjacent windows, too). The farthest window is to the dish room seen below. Tables (one for each sleeping cabin) inside the Dining Hall were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps as were a number of buildings in the camp. Photo taken 7/4/2007.
A view of the kitchen as seen from the window to the Dining Hall. Commercial range, grill, two ovens and stainless food preparation counters and sinks. Pots, pans and utensils provided (not knives). Photo taken 7/4/2007.
At left above is a view of the kitchen from the cook's entrance looking toward the dish room. The view at right is taken midway between the cook's entrance and the doorway to the Dining Hall. Photos taken 7/4/2007.
Dishwasher and clean-up room (kitchen through window). Dishes stack in wheeled rack or on wall opposite. Also shown is a partial view of the in side of the walk-in cooler. Shelves are the same on each side of the cooler. Two upright freezers are also available shown at the left in the dish room. Photos taken 7/4/2007.
Bath Facilities
A view of the Girl's Facility from the trail to the nearest sleeping cabins on the east side of the camp. A similar grouping forms the west side of the camp around a bookend matching Boy's Facility building. The interior of each has toilets, sinks, showers, a dressing area and electrical outlets for small appliances. View as seen 7/4/2007.
The Interior of the Girl's from the front door. The Boy's is the same in mirrored layout. Sinks and countertop are in the entry with toilets down the hallway at the left. One toilet has been modified for easier access. View as seen 7/4/2007.
A view of the back side of the Girl's with a dressing room, laundry sink and showers. Views as seen 7/4/2007.
Sleeping Cabins
Above is a typical sleeping cabin. Cabins have built-in bunks in each corner as shown in second photo. Cabins have electric lights and some have outlets but use of heaters, blow driers, curlers and other high energy consumer electronics is limited to the bath houses. All sleeping cabins are of similar design to accommodate eight people. Newer cabins built in the 1950's have concrete floors (numbers 5, 6, 7, 11 and 13) the older sleeping cabins have wood floors and were built in the 1930's. Views are as seen on 7/4/2007.
Cooks Quarters
This small four room cabin is just up the hill from the kitchen entrance to the Dining Hall and is in the middle of the camp between the east side (with Girl's Bath) and the west (with the Boy's Bath). It is perfect for cooks and or senior staff. The building has a small sitting room with a wood stove, two bedrooms and a shower bath. Photo taken 7/4/2007.
Corey Cabin (crafts cabin)
This is the oldest structure at the camp. The front two rooms (now used for storage) were on the site when the Billings Lions began the camp in 1927. Originally the two room cabin had a deep front porch which was removed in the 1970's. The unchinked large room at the back has a native stone fireplace and shutters to cover openings on each side. The building served as the original kitchen and dining hall from 1928 to 1937 when the current Dining Hall was completed. Lions are planning to restore the building to what it was like in the 1930's. It is used for crafts and campfires during rainy weather. It is airy and comfortable most when the shutters are open. Photos taken 7/4/2007.
Recreation Hall (Derrick Hall)
Recreation (Derrick) Hall as seen from front. The interior shows the large room with benches for gatherings. Photos taken 7/4/2007.
Amphitheater building
Amphitheater front view and one from the theater side. Seating remains to be installed, but lights are installed on the pole at left. Structure is also used as a staging area for arrival and departure during inclement weather because the steps open onto the entrance road. View as seen in June of 2007.
Memorial Hall
Memorial Hall as seen from the camp side (looking north). This is the only building with electric heat and self contained facilities for groups of 18 or less to use in the winter. This building is not included in the camp lease unless required for staff or by special circumstances. View as seen in June of 2007.
